Finest Insect Experiment:

  • On the best way upstream I discovered two funnel spider webs hiding behind the boardwalk railing. Not an excellent image nevertheless it exhibits the opening the place the spider is hiding. I’ve by no means been in a position to idiot a spider by touching its internet so I didn’t even attempt.

  • On the best way again we noticed pink nymph noticed lanternflies. In fact this invasive insect is expendable so … Would the spider come out if we dropped one on his internet? Certainly he did and he was quick! He zipped out, stung(?) the nymph, hid for a second after which raced out and carried the nymph again to his lair.

Finest Hen: On the identical outing a 12 months in the past we noticed one yellow-billed cuckoo by the creek. Yesterday we heard two however didn’t see them. If I needed to decide a Finest Hen I’d say it was both an indigo bunting or scarlet tanager.
